This film grew on me the entire time it was on. I knew I liked it from the get go, but there is just so much packed in, so many great locations, gun fights, chases, robberies, plans gone bad, etc that it's hard for me to find a whole lot of fault with it.
This was rockin a solid 4 and then I got hit with that final action sequence and it sent it over the edge. The kind of action that Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez try to emulate, just seemed ahead of it's time for 1969.

Its a traumatic poem of violence, with imagery as ambivalent as Goyas. Didn't really take to this classic movie, although I did like some of it's classic moments. Big fan of the big beautiful sets and the amount of people with a rugged "western-face" but the characters and story only drew me in in fits and starts. There's enough noticable artistic intent and sturdy filmmaking for me to put this in the same draw as 2001 and Vertigo; please don't yell at me, we all have this draw. read
