i had watched this movie as a child somewhen on tv. and i always remembered it as a movie i liked. and i still do. although there are many, many things that don't make sense, that are not followed through or unnecessary. and catherine zeta-jones' character is horribly written, but somehow, this movie just makes you feel good and that's what i gotta give it credit for. read more

i love depictions of airports in film and tv, so i really enjoyed some aspects of how it was done here. i do think the tone was a little askew and i wish we could've seen more of viktor's relationships with people in the terminal other than the three employees that become his friends. (i'm thinking along the lines of the employees of the stores inside the terminal.) things i didn't understand (which is probably my fault): viktor's hand photocopies at all of the stores, the marriage (were they dating between the time that enrique stopped making viktor ask the girl questions and the proposal?)... read more

Caught in a bureaucratic loophole, a visitor from a small East European country is trapped for months within the JFK airport terminal. Attempted hybrid between Kafka and and Frank Capra has strong assets in Hanks, Tucci and Zeta-Jones considerable performing charms but lacks the lightness of tone to actually get away with fairytale plot. Heavy-handed product placement bogs it further down. read more
