the iconography is bunkum and the acting is, sometimes, a bit hokey but it's still a well made film. even the action scenes are showing their age now. it could be a product of having seen this too many times or it's the fallout from the raid. the fight scenes here are so much more obviously people following well practiced moves. all fight scenes are like that but in comparison to the raid it's painfully obvious here. i could't have that said that 15+ years ago. to me these were the coolest fight scenes i'd ever seen. nothing could surpass them. read more

i'm quite a fan of classics and even though the matrix is not so old compared to other films, it is seen as an important film in cinema history. the beginning was rather impressive. trinity's cop chase was genius. and then neo's story... just great. the actress who plays trinity, carrie-anne moss, i knew about, by the way, from jessica jones, and it was strange to see her as a nice person instead of a strict lawyer. but after that, for the first 30 minutes, i lost interest. i even said i thought the matrix was stupid. the real world (the birth of neo, for example) were strange and unexpected.... read more
