a tale about fishy "siblings" planning a jewel heist with some unlikely abettors. some of the comedy is slapstick and over the top, but cleese & curtis perform admirably in their roles. all in all, a fun brit comedy that i should've watched years ago, yet it's somewhat fitting that i ended up watching it in england. read more

shut up. we didn't lose vietnam. it was a tie! ~ otto this film strikes me as a comedy of manners in a really peculiar way. often, this type of film takes sides along class lines, satirizing the upper class and their lifestyle. a fish called wanda satirizes both the american "rah rah", loud mouthed, vulgar patriotism and the ridiculously subdued and calm demeanor of the british. it is able to find the comedy in both of the differing mannerisms which makes it a very rare film indeed. and probably the funnier for it. i was surprised with just how intelligent this film played. it does have some... read more

This was a weird movie... Like I enjoyed it, but would I watch it again? ... No. It was fun, don't get me wrong. I laughed and I was into it, but it didn't 'wow' me. I loved John Cleese's character, but I always do. And I loved the comedy of him trying to hide Wanda from his wife. It was just a strange movie, honestly.  Oh, the constant dog killing though, weirdly hilarious. It shouldn't be, but it was.  I don't think there's much more to say about this though.
