Battleship Potemkin

for a propaganda film with a paper thin story and little to no subtlety, it needs to me a technical masterpiece to be an all time classic. it doesn't quite get there, but some aspects did stand out. the odessa steps sequence was very well done and captures the chaos and terror well. it was a little over edited and the shots got a bit too short at times, but overall it was an impressive achievement. the rest of the film kinda falls flat. there are about twice as many title cards as are needed and it really disrupts any sort of rhythm that the film is able to generate. stopping to tell me read more
