Review of Heat

Overall Rating
heat was a solid little movie. oh wait sorry, nevermind, look at that runtime! its anything but little. ha ha ha. my biggest problem right there, this movie is too damn long, and on top of that the pacing isnt that great. the first hour and a half felt like a full three hours, so when i paused to see how much left and was greeted by half of the runtime awaiting me, my jaw fell to the floor. it felt like a chore to get through.  other than that pretty big issue, the movies a solid little neo-noir thriller that really is nothing spectacular. acting wise, its a mixed bag. al pacino is bad and full of overacting in this one, and i swear to god his misreads like every one of his lines. its a bit frustrating. kind of bewildered by the 4.1 rating here on letterboxd, if im being honest. i mean, it wasnt terrible, either. those heist scenes were really gripping and easily the stand-outs of the movie. the final scene is also pretty great. but this didnt need to be three hours. i can easily see where corners and scenes could b cut to fit this under 2hr 10m at the most.  a solid watch, but one im probably gonna never see again.
