i found the protagonists motives at times unclear and her thinking questionable. like, why ya gotta go and stab your homegirl in the back like that? she was a despicable character that couldnt be bothered to clean up after herself nor could she stand to own up to her misdeeds. she certainly stood on a pedestal and talked it up about feminism and womanhood and love, but in the end she resorted to masculine action by way of gardenian symbology (the dagger) to get her way and was so jealous of genuine love that she had to fuck with it with the same kind of compulsion as the men she despises and... read more

the love witch is a tribute to early 70s exploitation films that feels like it is made by someone who only saw one scene from a sexploitation film and decided to make a movie based on that, but didn't watch the whole thing. the biggest issue is the length. how in the world is this 2 hours long? exploitation films were almost all solidly under 90 minutes because film was expensive and they were working with tiny budgets. that is the same reason they often had poor performances or gaffes that made the final cut, because they could only afford to shoot a scene a couple times. the love witch read more

horror x52 (2018) rewatch watched this at afi silver theatre. im really glad i re-watched this, and did so while watching it on the big screen. i appreciate this movie even more now (bumped rating from 3 stars to 4). i am going to be looking out for the next biller movie and going through her back catalogue in the future, and i really hope samantha robinson can get some bigger roles. really good movie. read more

I loved almost everything about this film. But where it fell short was the story. It was there but it wasn't a well put together one. Just wasn't enough. But a beautiful and interesting film to say the least! read more
