the characters are all despicable people that have no redeeming value, but that is what makes it work. it is a glimpse into the seedy underbelly of society, but instead of showing us gangsters or criminals it is press agents and columnists. tony curtis and burt lancaster are great as manipulative monsters that will do anything to get what they want. watched as part of scavenger hunt 46 task #28: see a film with an iconic piece of villainy my list | caleb_yells's master list read more

this... just was not for me, and a lot of it is the dialogue. everything felt like it was unfolding on a level that just would not register in my brain. who talks like this? actually i don't even have a problem with dialogue that sounds alien, but this felt... purposefully unnatural like "look at how clever i can be with words heheh." anyway, doubt it's a bad movie but again like i said: not for me. read more
