28 Weeks Later

sequel wise 2007 is no different than any of the previous years during the new millennium. so far this year four have been released and every week up until june 29th one is set to come out. the latest is from third-time director juan carlos fresnadillo and is the follow-up to the 2003 surprise hit '28 days later'. sequels that are able to out-do their originals in terms of quality are far and few and is even truer more so in the horror genre. i avoided this in theatres for no other reason that it came and went so fast i didn't get a chance to see it. i did believe that it was a cash in sequel and would not hold a candle to the original. boy how i was wrong! the film starts with a bang and doesn't really let up till the end. it is a great way to continue the story and a great idea for a sequel. while not as good as the first it still is a fantastic film and well worth watching. the effects were great, the acting very effective and the gore was out of this world. the chopper scene was fucking awesome!!! and who lives and who dies... read more
