this movie wouldve been much better if it made the plot simpler and took itself less seriously. still a decent watch. read

Absolutely brilliant start, but soon after it, the story begins to get boring and pretty much lose its direction. Also, Jackie ruins the movie quite a lot. I mean, yeah, we all love the man and he still shines during the fight scenes. And yet, this movie required quite a lot of complicated acting and... well... he failed at pretty much every single complicated scene here. The same way Arnie did in Aftermath. Just because he isn't a drama actor. Like... at all. So... yeah. Awesome motif, quite a lot of good stuff and yet... somehow, this movie is not nearly as good as it was read more Was this review helpful to you?

That one went under my radar but what a movie. One of Jackie Chan's best in recent years. Pierce Brosnan was excellent too and it was nice seeing Rufus Jones in a big production movie. Put Liam Neeson's Taken to shame. read

needed a bit less of pierce brosnan growling and pacing, and a lot more of jackie chan doing his thing. amazingly, but not surprisingly- at least not to me, chan's "thing" in this movie is actually "turning in a damn good performance". y'know, as opposed to kicking the living shit out of 50 bad guys at a time. this is obviously not that kind of movie. chan's character here is in the old guard of fathers with training™, like brian mills in taken. however, chan is out for revenge. this is not a rescue mission. chan wants justice. blood justice. somehow that's supposed to fit nicely into a story... read

not bad, but i didn't really care about the extra political thriller aspects. it also felt like jackie chan's character was put in just to have jackie in the movie. read

This actually one of the better Jackie Chan movies to be made in recent years. In it he plays a man who loses his daughter to an act of terrorism and he sets about getting vengeance and information through an Irish politician in Pierce Brosnan. Maybe its just me but at times I could of sworn Pierce was trying to put on an Irish accent but sounding more Scottish, funny cause he hails from Ireland. Jackie Chan is good as the grieving father and I think its the first time I have actually seen him kill anyone, usually he just maims them. Directed by Martin Campbell who knows about action as a read

Basically I am an easy mark for action/thrillers where a well aged man has a knotty relationship with violence and/or spends a lot of time looking at documents and computer screens. read

Jackie Chan joins the old angry guy vigilante club. Liam Neeson was busy and Bronson is dead. It's pretty standard stuff here, an eighties action movie missing the "this time it's personal" tagline. Rather than kill all the henchmen he wounds them like in First Blood, that's about the only difference. The woke portion came with the white terrorists. It also made sure to show the white Irish guy would be "owned" by the white woman and black guy in England. With modern casting, there are no coincidences. Everything is deliberate. read
