Malcolm X

for a film that's almost 3 and a half hours long it sure kept my attention. i only took one break around the middle and the rest of the film managed to keep me engaged. i'm not exactly sure how - maybe it was pacing, maybe it was me just caring about the story - but it definitely captivated me. it's hard to talk about biopics like this, especially when they're about someone who is apparently considered controversial and you don't know much about the entire thing. on a technical level, malcom x is very very well made. the cinematography is good, the script is strong, and the acting is great.... read more

To think that I am watching this for the first time 30 years after it came out and is just as relevant now as when it came out. I think if I had watched this when I was younger, hell even in my 20s, I wouldn't have really understood the ramifications of everything Malcolm X when through and wanted. It's through wisdom and watching the stilted slow change of the world where I can now recognize fully what drove him to become who he became.
