this here be john carpenter's last great film. when i say it is his last great film i mean that from my perspective. maybe, in reality, it's not as good as his heyday (1975 to 1988) but it's a pretty soldi horror film and i just love it. i first saw it back in 1994 in theatre and let me tell you it scared the shit out of me, both in atmosphere and jump scares. it took me places i didn't see coming and it was clever and it had a great ending and it featured the legendary david warner. yeah, back then this was one of my favourite horror movies ever. i've seen it many times since then and today... read

john carpenter doing stephen king-writes-lovecraft. this is very obvious stuff - the shades of "they live", the explicitly lovecraftian horror, the "popular horror author" writing books placed in a town described as "main(e) street us". as a first impression, bearing in mind the grand tradition of technophobic movies aimed at television and new media, it is nice to see books in the crossfire. the lead character even mentions the writer's style as the reason why the books have their effect, and there is a scene involving the extra layer between writing and reality (the descriptions are read
