james cameron really loves diving and being underwater. the key to the abyss is that the story and film works without the alien aspect. just as a story of underwater roughnecks dealing with the military guy succumbing to pressure sickness while trapped half a mile underwater it is a good film. the characters and their relationships with each other are introduced very well and i felt like i understood who they all were without much time being devoted to introductions. the thriller aspects and the claustrophobia of being underwater are extremely well done and it is shot really well. as for the... read more

i bring you love! and 3 hours of underwater space opera posing as a morality play to get to the same exact ending as explorers. read more
