film #7 of hooptober 4.0: revenge of the hoop the film that kicked off hammer horror is still a great one. the curse of frankenstein was the movie that started a new era in horror films, and it did so by presenting a well-known story in a new cinematic way. terence fisher brings plenty of gothic mood and style to his adaptation of the mary shelley story, awash in vivid colors and atmospheric sets. the script by jimmy sangster takes an expected number of liberties, but they all generally work and help paint a strong image of victor frankenstein as a brilliant but amoral man. enough good things... read

not my favorite of the hammer films. it really is the story of baron frankenstein, the creature really is almost incidental to the whole thing. cushing is great and i really liked the makeup effects on the creature. on the whole it just didn't quite click for me though. read

6.5 la maldición de frankenstein la primera de las adaptaciones de la hammer del relato de mary shelley, ahonda sobre todo en el conflicto frankenstein con su tutor y ayudante. la criatura queda en un segundo plano sin apenas escenas, y con un final menos epico que el de james whale, que a dia de hoy sigue siendo la mejor de las revisiones. aun asi, y como casi todo producto hammer es muy disfrutable. read
