revolutionary road, or the better title: what happened if jack got on the raft at the end of titanic? the answer is this movie. they did not live happily ever after. rose never got to grow old and throw the necklace in the ocean. so sad, so sad, yet so real. jesus this movie is a walloping case of depressing anger. it starts with a couple meeting. the next scene, they are fighting and i mean fighting. you just know it isn't going to go well and it doesn't, boy does it ever fall apart. directed by sam mendes and starring leo dicaprio, kate winslet, michael shannon and kathy bates this movie is... read more

this film could have used some more revolutionary elements. yet. sometimes, the best acting so subtly builds upon itself that you don't realize what a great performance you've seen until far along into the movie. that is the case with revolutionary road. sam mendes gets the most out of winslet and dicaprio who give masterful performances and really work well together. in some ways, their acting reflects the themes of the film, which makes the performances even more powerful than they would be otherwise. each of them pulls of the seamless transition from seemingly perfect suburban couple to a... read more
