i'm really disappointed that this doesn't hold up nearly as well as it did two summers ago. there's very little to even admire and appreciate about this classic. the score's pretty good, although mostly overused. tom savini's make-up is really good, although mostly underused. i like the twist reveal scene, although the pacing really slows down afterwards for the rest of the film. lots of charming 80's moments that will trick you into thinking this has a personality. some cool camera stuff. this movie is so. fucking. boring. it's almost unwatchable due to the amount of b-roll used and scenes... read

friday the 13th is a classic of the slasher sub-genre. it's fun as all hell, racks up the kills to an astounding level and features a then unknown kevin bacon. it's not the most well made movie ever but it not only spawned a franchise it also defined the look of the slasher flick (more-so than halloween--case in point, all the halloween sequels are really imitating this film). endlessly rewatchable and a hell of a good time. production design: 7 out of 10 cinematography: 7 out of 10 re-playability: 9 out of 10 originality: 6 out of 10 costumes: 8 out of 10 directing: 7 out of 10 editing: 7... read
