The story is predictable. Pennywise comes, terrorizes the kids, takes one hostage, the rest have to save her and "kill" or "banish" Pennywise. It's a story that many predicted, including myself. But I still invested in it, there is no doubt about that. It unraveled each child's greatest fear well and in proper increasing horror. It was the classic IT that we know and love, but brought to more life and a realistic approach.
originally posted here: stephen kings it: a great movie featuring deviations from the book that i found questionable it is the first great stephen king adaptation in a long while (from here on in im going to refer to the movie as it and the normal word it as it to avoid confusion about it and it). however, for some reason, they changed a bunch of things and im not exactly sure why or for what purpose some of the changes were made. its a movie that should have been a mini-series. ***disclaimer*** im going to spoil both the movie and book. you have been warned. the good: im not going to... read more
note: i haven't seen the 1990 tv movie nor have i read the book. i'll be judging this movie purely based on it's own merits. it is easily the most overhyped movie of the year. released in dry spell of terrible wide-release films, being the only halway-competent one is sure to exaggerate its quality and ensure box office success. don't get me wrong, the movie is far from shit, and i don't really regret seeing it. the child actors, aside from two, all do fine jobs portraying their characters, even if they are a bit one-dimensional. the film looks great, with some really nice shot compositions... read more
well, people don't see the real it, right. they just see its makeup problem. people think it eats too many chocolate kids or that it don't wash its teeth. its audience says it'll probably grow out of it, but it don't think so, no.... read more
