(i think) this is the 9th film in the "liam neeson has balls of steele"" series and the third time (i think) he has partnered with jaume collet-sera to put those balls on the big screen. i love action=y neeson and i actually really like collet-sera as a director. this movie starts out decent but then (like non-stop) it gets way to over the top and is somewhat predictable and generic by films end. not great but neeson sure makes it watchable. and i almost forgot, the opening credit sequence was pretty awesome and really really well done. read

decent thriller derailed by ridiculous third act the commuter delivers what it promises, a liam neeson action movie that relies on tension and a little bit of mystery to fill out its runtime. it begins very well with minimal exposition for the set up, using images or short conversations to explain what most movies would carve out five minutes of dialogue for. from there it evolves more like a mystery with an ordinary man in an extraordinary situation searching for someone on the train. as it enters the third act, it goes full action movie with explosions, fight scenes, and massive stakes. read
