Sicario: Day of the Soldado

you know, it's very difficult to be better than denis villeneuve, and i'm sure that people would like this movie way more if it wouldn't called sicario. this a solid crime movie with a great, let's call it "realistic" action. so i've kinda enjoyed this film, but that twist with mС was bad, and if not that twist, ending would have a bigger impact. read more

even though a decent-ish film on it's own but still a very unnecessary attempt to followup on a great film that never needed a sequel and with denis villeneuve not returning i had somewhat anticipated this. the worst thing though was the lack of consistency in the screenplay, things happen just for the plot convenience. 6/10 read more

it's gritty and really dives into the reality of how brutal and unpleasant some parts of our world are. there is some political commentary that works well enough, but as a whole the film isn't anything special and is burdened by comparisons to its predecessor. benicio del toro is fantastic and gets an opportunity to explore a fascinating character in more depth. dariusz wolski shot the film very well and while he isn't quite able to do what deakins did with the first film, he comes very close. read more
