quick hit: it's suitably tense given the situation, though 47 meters down is let down by a severe lack of character depth and a plot twist that is not only badly telegraphed but also among the most tired of tropes. mandy moore and claire holt do a decent job as underwater scream queens despite how paper-thin their characters are and it certainly looks good. with a more plausible script and less of a reliance on jump scares, this could have been something neat. instead, the shallows it ain't.
