A confused cluster chaos of ideas, plot and CGI. As many space/disaster movie tropes as possible mashed together hoping for the emergence of something watchable. Rogue AI, alien ancestry, danger approaching earth, evil looney military-industrial complex, outsider nerd who knows the truth to name but a few. The generally admirable Halle Berry is encumbered with inane, excessively-earnest dialogue and jingoistic speeches. this is unexpectedly close to the moon plotlines in the destiny video game franchise. evil something-or-other takes over the moon, we go blow something up using fancy new powers/technology. but hey, things go boom and get destroyed, so at least that expectation got met. read
