when you watch porn you don't go act suprised and go "but its just people fucking each other, they've already made films of people fucking each other, they're just fucking in a new weird position!". simillarly you watch emmerich's films, you don't go "but the earths having a disaster, he's already made films of the earth having a disaster, its just a new disaster!". you sit there, watch some cool visual about the earth crusts breaking and new york being annihilated and you get horny. and you'll be grateful. read more

A confused cluster chaos of ideas, plot and CGI. As many space/disaster movie tropes as possible mashed together hoping for the emergence of something watchable. Rogue AI, alien ancestry, danger approaching earth, evil looney military-industrial complex, outsider nerd who knows the truth to name but a few.

this is unexpectedly close to the moon plotlines in the destiny video game franchise. evil something-or-other takes over the moon, we go blow something up using fancy new powers/technology. but hey, things go boom and get destroyed, so at least that expectation got met. read more

Moonfall is my guilty pleasure of this year! This disaster movie brings you what you expect and want, the moon falling to Earth! I know this wouldnt technically make sense in the real world, but its a movie! A good thing in this movie is the main characters here, Jo Fowler, Brian Harper & KC Houseman! KC brings some occasional funny lines while I liked the story of how Brian Harper felt he should be responsible for his friends death in the opening. Jo Fowler had some good moments with Brian, but nothing really to point out with her! The opening sequence was very good and it gave you a taste... read more

Did not expect to love this. They NAILED the “90s-Action-World-Ending” film tropes perfectly. Its hilarious, insane, entertaining and thats exactly what I think they set out for. I think some people go into this movie ready to take it too seriously and thats a huge mistake. Its a ridiculous adventure and a perfect party movie. read more

Good lord, sack the editor! Unnatural pacing killed the vibe. I zoned-out for about 2 minutes and 10 things happened. The dialogue, right down to the responses, especially during the first and second acts, felt very mechanical. It's like NPCs talking in video game cutscenes. The 3rd act offers fun visuals, though theyre embarrassingly CG. There are dozens of obvious green screen backdrops throughout, like they werent even trying. My quick rating - 5;8/10. The trendy things to do is completely dog on this and say Roland Emmerich just can't make good flix anymore. I found amusement seeing these comments since the sheeple most likely are so busy watching the lemming in front to not realize his last movie was Midway; which was pretty damn good. And if you roll up and down his filmography; I bet you'll be pleased with most. I did say MOST (everyone but me hated his take on Godzilla). Basically just a modern update on Independence Day , and for my money, actually more competent and consistent, albeit not quite fresh or original enough in 2022 to have anywhere near the same cultural impact. It's big cheesy fun with a good cast that mesh well together. Patrick Wilson is such a good fit for something like this that it's just a joy to see him lead a big blockbuster. It won't be a hugely successful one mind, I think most people will struggle with how dated it is in some spots, or they've already made their minds up about Emmerich, but whatever, I had a lot of fun watching read more

This movie is so stupid, it became a comedy because of how stupid it is. The dialog, the visuals, the sound design, everything about this movie sucked, yet it was fucking great. Oh woke PC modern garbage. Helicopter pilot was a female, cop leading entry team was a female, head of NASA black female (after the white guy abandons ship of course). Diverse Astronauts, diverse military but yep, the two groups of looters ALL 5 were WHITE.Throw in a line about China donating a ship and a Chinese nanny to help your movie in China. This is a parody of a movie Roland Emmerich should not be financed (this made 30 on a 146 million budget so it's a matter of time). How many times can you see cars flying through the air like in the movie 2012? So so bad on every conceivable level.... read more
