it's a remake, but i've never watched carpenter's original. maybe this worked in favor of this movie, maybe on the contrary. my main problem with it was how generic it was. is it a bad movie? no. does it have anything memorable at all? well, the storm? not really. the scenes outside were on the level of some er-type tv show, just with guns. i kept thinking "movie, do something impressive. anything. one thing. have one great character or a badass character (even if s/he is cliched); good dialogue or some funny lines, sense of tension, great action... do something!" but no. nope. still, the read

This “version” of Assault on Precinct 13 is certainly not as good as the original, but I'm pretty sure if this had some other title, it would have done quite well for itself. There's tension, there's action, there's great chemistry among the leads, there's great atmosphere, and there are even some sexiness thanks to Drea de Matteo. I like it enough to rewatch it from time to time. I actually rewatch it more than the original now that I think about it.
