since i was in the mood for a good old-fashioned al pacino performance, i decided to go with serpico. under the direction of sidney lumet, he plays the role of frank serpico, an agent in new york. he's the type of righteous cop. whatever department he's in, frank refuses to take bribes. kind of tricky, ' cause this kind of practice is the rule. if he wants to expose the corruption, he'll have the corps on his tail. because that kickback, it's really coming along. it's a nice extra pocket. nobody wants to lose that. you bet your ass no cop wants this to go public. but frank is of principle.... read more

it's a good movie but i didn't love it. serpico is such a delightfully weird character when you get to know him, but i found myself disinterested in the sad martyrdom for police corruption that followed. read more
