ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the russell crowe show. now ive never been a big fan of old tugger, but its hard to talk about virtuosity without highlighting his performance as sid 6.7. im pretty sure its a blip on his career hed rather forget about, but if you ask me he reads the tone of eric bernt's script like a pro and gave it exactly what it needed to elevate this beyond a mere misguided exercise in convolutedness. not to downplay an already excellent cast, spearheaded by denzel washington, but there's something magical about the way crowe takes an entire nightclub hostage and uses read more

russell crowe's back hurts from carrying this whole movie while simultaneously chewing so much scenery, a mortal man would have died. so basically, a really fun time. dated techno babble about vr and cyber-shit is 110% my jam, and virtuosity delivers in spades- while also cashing in on the 90's cg "morphing" craze. it's like someone dropped a '90s batman movie supervillain into a ho-hum cop-catches-killer flick. crowe spouts morbid one-liners, chews glass to regenerate his android body, and hams it up for every camera in sight. it's a blast to watch. denzel is reliable, but he could've read more
