The movie that turned Steven Seagal into a star. And, well, you can easily see why. The motif here is fine (long story short, it's all about the corruption and a good guy who isn't afraid to fight it), there's action and, well, there's Steven Seagal who speaks Japanese and fights like a bloody American ninja.
Unfortunately, it's also one of those movies that you either watched back in the days, or... you see, it's a BAD movie. Very, VERY bad movie. Terrible writing, terrible acting, cheesy action and literally not a single scene to make it to stand out. Seriously, it's generic as f.
Back in the days? We were all ready too swallow tons of such crap. Just because there was that craze when everybody was obsessed with those cool dudes with ninja skills who fought baddies. Nobody cared about quality. We just wanted more. I actually have quite a lot of good memories with such movies.
The problem is - when you start re-watching those movies nowadays, when the craze is long gone? You begin to see them for what they are. And, like I said, most of those movies were absolutely terrible. Some of them were so bad that they were good, but this one? It's just bad. Actually, I had pretty hard time finishing it nowadays just because I felt... bored. I mean, sure, the action is still there but it's so-o-o-o generic and uninspired that... yeah...
