i had not seen bordello of blood in several years, and it wasn't quite as terrible as i remember. that is no compliment though, and it is certainly not a good movie. dennis miller is all smarm and no charisma here; the acting all around is shlocky and that would be fine if the movie was actually able to deliver on the campy humor. instead we have a ton of groan-worthy dialogue punctuated by some good, solid gore effects for the time and a load of nudity. basically, bordello of blood is a horror comedy as envisioned by a thirteen year-old and a very pale successor to demon knight. read more

this ain't bad! absolutely bangin practical fx but there's some decisions made here that hold it back from being great. first off: the whole investigation arc, and with it dennis miller's screen time eats up an unnecessary amount of this movie. he's just too much of a wise ass to be a lead in anything, especially considering the rest of the cast which is pretty aces. secondly: i feel like a better director could've helped add some punch to scenes that had potential. specifically i'm thinking of a scene which is similar to the no doubt set piece in captain marvel, where chris sarandon & dennis... read more
