Apt Pupil

ian mckellen gives a great performance that is far better than this film deserves. he takes a character without much depth and creates a more complex individual rather than just a personification of evil. no character is very deep here which may be a result of them stretching a short story. brad renfro once again plays a precocious, but troubled teen, which is just the actual story of his life, which is a shame. the story is twisted, but wasn't particularly deep. it is well constructed and told, it just lacks that element to push it out into being really good. watched as part of scavenger... read more
