This is not an adaptation of the TV Show Hustle, as interesting as it would be to see Robert Vaughn do Kung Fu. It is in fact a fun, nonsensical film, with a surprising amount of heart. The kind of good time action movie that you just don't see much anymore. read more

i put off watching this for a long time because i was sick of the direction asian cinema seemed to be going in. after the destruction of the hong kong film industry, chinese films got a lot less inventive and more propagandized. wire work and fantasy martial arts just exploded, not only there but in korea and japan, too. and the tone of films typically went into beyond-ridiculous slapstick comedy or beyond-melodramatic tragedies. kung fu hustle seemed to combine these aspects and i was just sure id be let down. and i wasnt totally wrong. it is super slapsticky and has tons of wirework and read more
