Even more thought provoking a second time around. Originally I had given the film 5 stars, but after watching the film a second time and discussing it with a friend I decided to revise my review. Not saying that the film is bad, or that it isn't as wonderful. But just thinking about the film more and seeing where it could have improved has caused me to lower it's rating. Purely for the fact that the first 40 minutes or so could have been shortened by about 20 minutes to give us a shorter more precise film. It just feels like there was too much fluff. My quick rating - 6;3/10. A brutal look into a very bizarre torture experiment. Somthing that will sit with you after the film is over. Well made but not for the weak of heart; especially if you are uncomfortable seeing a women beaten; repeatedly. read more

This movie wants you to look away and you want to look away but you cant. Not because of the gore or the torture but for the brilliant performances, the intriguing concepts and tight execution. Not for everyone but for those that can stomache it, Martyrs offers a beautiful love story shoved inside a philosophical nightmare. read more

Most disturbing movie till date. the concept they handled made everyone mad enough to think about the after life. They terrified everyone with the Cinematography. The zoom shots they used were heinous in nature. This movie will haunt you forever for sure read more
