usually, when you cast an unknown its because they have so much raw talent you dont need star power to carry their performance. which is why i found it odd that they chose a male lead that cant act or sing for a musical. naomi scott was great but i wish she was given better material. and honestly, i liked will smith as the genie. he made the role his own instead of trying to copy robin williams. but smiths natural charisma could not make this a worthwhile movie. each disney remake seems to elaborate on the original while not actually adding anything in substance. a few spots of genuine humor... read more

it is perfectly fine with minimal deviations from the original and everything done at about 85% of original quality. the most notable difference is how they handled jasmine, which is a major improvement. in the animated version, she is a really thin character without much to her. she is the highlight of this version with naomi scott as the only clearly better version of a character. the new song sung by jasmine felt a little out of place though. it is a fine song, but it has a very different feel then the rest of the songs in the movie. will smith was fine as genie and made his version of the... read more

while there is no substitute for robin williams role in aladdin, robin will always be my genie i think this move brings me back to age 13, im very happy they stick with the original story and changed a little bit, it was funny fun and original. very fun to watch and remember. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by the movie. Not that I thought it was bad I just didn't expect to love it nearly as much as I did. I didn't care immensely for the new song BUT I did enjoy it. It wasn't too bad or out of place. To be honest that's really what the only downside for me was. The The east of the film was great. The cast was fantastic, and although Will Smith does not replace Robin Williams he did bring a lot to the character. I feel like he did the role properly but also giving his own spirit. All in all if you can stand to watch a live action of a classic Disney film, do it. read more

Helped by a magical genie, a young thief pretends to be a prince to woo the sultan's daughter but an evil vizier plans to seize the power for himself. The live-action remake of Disney's 1992 animated feature is colorful, quick-moving but terminally uninspired - and further hampered by an unmemorable villain. ...1 star for the incredible costume designers, set designers, choreographers, set directors, etc. It was so deeply colorful & rich in culture, you brought a wonderful life to the world of Agrabah. 1 star for Naomi Scott,who really seems to be the only one who cares about her performance. She definitely has stronger pips than Mena Massoud as Aladdin. and 1 star for my little carpet boi, he's was the only one I really cared about. Maybeee half a star for that little OG poster in the cave scene that made me smile. :) and that's it. read more

Will Smith actually did a great job, but they should've let him be him more instead of forcing out Robin Williams' voices/jokes (which he couldn't deliver so they just made me sad). I did like Jasmine's re-write and thought Speechless was nice, if a little too on-the-nose. It was also played SUPER corny in the movie but worked well in the soundtrack. read more

I must admit when I heard the casting of Will Smith for this film I was quite apprehensive but he actually played the part of Genie very well. He had big shoes to fill with Robin Williams owning the role in the animated version but with this new live action one the makers went with a singer rather than a comedian. The sets are pretty lavish and the CGI effects are good. Highly recommended read more

Admito que após o ofensivo Beauty and the Beast, eu estava com muito receio de Aladdin. A animação de 1992 é a minha favorita da Disney – sim, acima de The Lion King – e eu estava cético quanto a forma de adaptá-la ao cinema, pois não conseguia imaginar uma forma que equilibrasse o "realismo" de um live-action com o espírito mais 'pitoresco' da obra. Felizmente, um diretor chamado Guy Ritchie conseguiu. E perceba como a presença de um diretor com personalidade faz a diferença na hora de adaptar tais animações.
