Sweet and Lowdown

here's a woody allen film that has grown on me over the last few years. when i first saw it i liked but didn't think it was amazing. then when i watched it again i thought it was close to brilliant. the performances, the directing, the music, the sets, the costumes; everything is so well done. sean penn and samantha morton are knock outs. the story is funny and depressing, sometimes both in the same scene. it kind of plays like a woody allen version of the coen brother's o brother where art though interfused with inside llewyn davis. it's weird, it's wacky, and when it ends it'll leave you... read more
