has its moments but just ends up being more of the same of the other ones. some remnants of part 2 are still there. good kills/final fight. something the film expanded on that i wasn't expecting is that jason actually feels pretty intimidating. extremely formulaic. it literally begins and ends the exact same way as the previous entries. tries to imitate the good parts of the series and just ends up falling on its face. this film was one of the first to be shown in 3d, so the filmmakers decided this would be their gimmick and added scenes in the film that would utilize the format. because of... read

starting right where part 2 ends (same night, moments after) this film doesn't hold a candle to it's predecessor. it does feature boobs though, and a kind of fun disco beat version of the theme and it's where jason gets his mask. can you say iconic? also the kills are pretty good too. it's just not as good as part 2, less original, lesser made, full of gimmicky 3d (could be good or bad depending how you look at it) and overall just not as iconic (except for the mask) as parts 1 and 2. also, one of the biker guys is a dead ringer for scott thompson; i could of sworn i was watching him the read

following the relative improvement that friday the 13th part 2, the third entry in the famous (infamous?) slasher franchise is a big step down in almost every way. steve miner returns to the director's chair but can't wrangle the horror fun that the second entry had. the script from a hodgepodge of writers is lifeless, with bland and indistinguishable characters spouting off poor dialogue. most of the cast is incapable of doing much with the script; where the first sequel had sufficiently natural talent this one has players who can't get past their stilted lines. the kills are weak with some... read

it just kinda mashes together part one and part two into a bland slasher that goes all in on the cheesy 3-d effects at the expense of everything else. dana kimmell is the only one playing an actual character, everyone else is just playing cartoonish stereotypes and not particularly well. the guy playing rick looks like he's in his mid 40s which just makes his behavior feel creepy. i guess it works okay as a slasher, but it's worse than the first friday the 13th and that is already a fairly low bar. read

the 3d effects in this are some dora the explorer shit; ain't nobody gonna react to yo dumb ass so get on with the dang movie. the characters are pretty laughable, too. more than ever do they feel like static pawns waiting around to get mur-diddly-urdered. especially the 3 (???) main girls are completely indistinguishable. considering all that it's crazy then how visually memorable, and important for the franchise this one is. dat song should've been the opening theme to every jason movie henceforth; but like the wire did it with different variations for each instalment. read

it's considerably less sexy than the previous movies. there's a middle aged mustachioed man sneaking peanuts and donuts from his wife's store and then a scene of him pooping with full liquidy sound effects. he didn't even wipe. then he got an axe in the chest. rip harold. that's the first 15 minutes. then, suprise-suprise, kids get murdered at camp again.... jason gets his mask and kinda just bumbles his way through. it's really quite a lackluster affair but whoever did the credits deserves a special shout out. the intro credits were fantastic and the end credits had some bizarre awesome read

I actually enjoyed this one quite a bit. Maybe it's because it's where Jason finally gets his mask and tends to use his iconic machete more. My only issue is the main girl, her acting was rather bad and made me laugh at bits. All-in-all probably my favourite of the series, so far. read

1982s Friday the 13th Part 3 is directed by Steve Miner, marking his second and final appearance in the F13 series. This is the most basic movie in this whole series and the Rotten Tomatoes scores reflect that greatly with a 7% for critics and a 42% for audiences.
Harry Manfredini again returns to score this movie and I doubt he scored that badass synth wave intro. You walked out a changed man if you saw that intro.
The Jason in this movie is okay and is elevated by the fact he gets the mask in it but is mainly robotic and is heavily improved upon in The Final Chapter. The characters here... read

After watching the first two I remember the ad for this one and being blown away by the hockey mask. This was the first one I got to see in a theater and it was in 3d! The nostalgia is deep on this one and Brooker is my favorite Jason. He was long and lanky and ran! The head squeeze was a personal favorite. read

Final Boys Spooky Season 2023 #07 – Friday the 13th Special
