without betty white this film would have been a lot worse. she was ace. for some reason, i regularly get bill pulman and jeff daniels mixed up. i swap their films around, sometimes i throw randy quaid into the mix too. i had to look up who played hector, he's one of those people you recognise and go "oh, him... yeah he was in... something." william fichtner used to be one of those, he's managed to escape that by getting more awesome all the time. the film was ok. a lot less killing than i remembered/hoped for. quality beheading moment though, glad i forgot about that. i'm still in love with... read more

At least one croc survives. Idk where they get not attacking in the water if they can sense any movement in the water and I am p sure crocidiles eat fish???? Lots of gators and crocs get killed irl cause ppl feed them. I would want one as a friend but its too high risk for the animal and others. I like the animantronic for it . I want me one of those. Lots of people standing around doing nothing. Animal death/ read more

I watched Lake Placid on TV way too many times to count growing up. I completely forgot about it too, until I watched X earlier this year and the crocodile in it triggered my memory. I had no idea how stacked this cast was, theses faces meant nothing to me as a kid (except perhaps recognizing Bill Pullman from Independence Day. Also, this is the first time I'm seeing it not cut-for-TV and there is a noticeable amount of swearing and a bit of gore that I noticed wasn't in the TV cut. Anaconda wishes it was worthy of being the gum under Lake Placid's shoe. I just love how unabashedly cheesy... read more

Still holds up. Love this movie and it's blend of comedy and gore. Oliver Platt and Bill Pullman are highlights with the Sheriff and Platt being the best exchsnges. Steve Miner deserves recognition for this and Friday the 13th 2-3. Anything after part one is pure crap. read more

An all-star cast head up this dated but enjoyable film about a thirty foot crocodile which slowly chews its way through the quiet town of Black Lake, Maine. Bridget Fonda plays palaeontologist Kelly, a neurotic character with an endearingly warm personality who is at loggerheads with the hardnosed Sheriff Hank (Brendan Gleeson) who wants nothing more than to put a bullet in the head of this remarkable creature.
