the follow-up to wes craven's horror classic is major step down in every aspect. the story's gimmick - which i won't spoil for anyone that doesn't know it - has absolutely no reason to exist and pays off in the worst way conceivable. it relies majorly on the main character's performance (who is awful), and butchers robert englund's screentime (which is the worst idea imaginable for an elm street flick). outside of its shitty gimmick, nothing about the plot is interesting in the slightest. while trying to build a character for jesse, family, relationships, and school life fail to be fleshed... read

guys, everyone loved this movie we made about this guy named freddy who kills people in their dreams and stuff so let's make another one about him possessing the single most annoying guy we can come up with and let him kill more people so we can earn some more money. .... never expected the sequel to be as great as the original. but this was just horrible... read

people rag on this movie for not adhering to the 'rules' set forth by the first one, and okay- i get that. objectively speaking, freddy's revenge is how not to do a sequel. but how can anyone be seriously upset with it, when it's so damn fun? there's an exploding bird, dogs with creepy human faces, a demon cat, a gooey face melting effect, freddy exposing his own brain by ripping the skin off his head, and a cruel (and gay) gym teaching pelted to death by balls. the blatantly homo-erotic subtext throughout is the absolute icing on the cake, turning scenes that could've been serious into read
