there's definitely some knee-jerk moments in the movie that absolutely haven't aged well, but i found myself otherwise captivated by this movie. nearly 80 years old and as dramatic, intense, and even as humorous as any moden adventure epic. paced surprisingly well, once the staid build up is over with, the rest of the movie is a thoroughly engrossing adventure about one man's journey to prove to his friends- and ultimately, himself, that he is not a coward. he resigned his commission in the military right before his regiment's deployment to egypt to retake the city of khartoum. of course, his... read more
