just seems to ramble on and then it's the end. the original was a far better film. the reverend kane character was a great addition but they failed to make proper use of him. the menace was much more believable in the first film. you really felt the characters fearing for their lives and that of their daughter. this one just ambles along, a few weird things happen and then we're suddenly at the resolution and it's all over. i'm glad they didn't copy the original and fake out the ending but i just wanted more from this movie. read more

hoop-tober 2.0: film 29 *********************************************************************** here's the thing with poltergeist ii: the other side. i loved it as a kid. i thought it was almost as good as the first one. now that i'm older, and now that i watched it again, and now that i watched it widescreen and uncut i can unequivocally say it is nowhere near as good. in fact it's not very good at all. sure it has good moments. the worm sequence, the returning cast, that guy from one flew over the cuckoo's nest and a really creepy bad guy, like really creepy. a few other things too but most... read more

Of course, they wanted a sequel... they always do. And you know what? It's not that bad. Quite the opposite, it's a pretty solid flick. It's just... Well, let's just say there are some problems with it.

First thing first - Mr. Spielberg wasn't there anymore. And without his signature E.T.-like atmosphere? It's like half of the magic disappeared. Second - no matter how you look at it, it feels forced. Like really, REALLY forced. Even though Mark Victor and Michael Grais were still there, they were unable to come up with anything interesting.
