most of the reviews i've read have claimed that this is a depressing film. though, i can understand their reasoning for such claims, the film rather showed me future and life. ethereal, dreamy, and darkly twisted; in combination with its great music and non-linear storytelling which was almost experimental and definitely arthouse, the film is truly intriguing and intricately beautiful. as an enthusiast for nonlinear storytelling, myself, i was able to enjoy and comprehend the movie on first viewing. though, to use the adjective "enjoy" would certainly be debatable for this film. if you really... read

My personal favorite movie ever. I could talk about how masterfully the soundtrack, camera work, and visual design of everything all ties together to make an fucking phenomenal coming of age tale that is just as relevant now as it was 20 years ago. A pseudo-critique of stan culture, stunning character drama about peer pressure and bully-culture, and literally the prettiest film I've ever seen.
