Suspicion

it is firmly lower mid-tier hitchcock with a decent story, but uneven pacing. it is interesting to see cary grant play an out and out villain, though it was also frustrating because the charm wasn't really there, but the story was relying on it. joan fontaine is great, but is being wasted a bit as she is better than this material. nigel bruce is just a piece of perfect casting as the kind hearted blustering fool that he is already playing in everything i have ever seen him in. i refuse to acknowledge the bullshit cop out ending that they tacked on, the production code can fuck off. read more

a dated beginning and cop-out of an ending mar this otherwise solid thriller that is really best to watch knowing nothing about.
