wes craven once again leaves a deep mark on the franchise with his directorial return. completely different from his last nightmare film in every regard. the script is so meta and interesting. constantly leaves you curious on what will happen next. freddy has a great new look that fits the story. kills and callbacks to the previous films are rewarding. i really disliked a couple of major aspects to the story, one that the film heavily relies on. unbalanced quality of performances; some were great, some were okay, some were bad. weak opening. while it's not the best, wes craven's new read

another one i used to think sucked, but hey an 11-year old gore hound is hardly waiting around for super grounded subversive sequels. honestly it's the only freddy movie clever enough to really fuck with your sense of reality and any expectations you're bringing over are only going to undermine that. read
