Jabberwocky

terry gilliam's first film as director. it's a well made film, feeling larger than the budget actually is but it is far from showing off what gilliam is all about. while it does have gilliam's unique style and sensibilities to it, jabberwocky also leans to much on monty python-esque moments and a very dry british sense of humour which has the potential to alienate many viewers. it almost feels as if gilliam is trying to ape the feel and look of monty python's holy grail but since this is a strictly gilliam affair the mix of python and non-python elements and the problem of not focusing on one... read more
