Bride of Chucky

i'd never seen the child's play films after the third entry before now. the first three are great to solid, and the obvious hard left this film takes into camp was something that didn't seem appealing to me. man, was that a mistake. don mancini's reinvigoration of his franchise is an absolute blast, leaning hard into the fun and a very solid set of cinematic references to boot. it's a very self-aware film and it's understandable why heavy devotees of the original trilogy aren't necessarily keen on this, but the way he takes the franchise and spins it anew is admirable and reaps serious read more

An old friend returns and stitches chucky up as good as new, this is my favourite kind of chucky doll as I find him much scarier than the original good guy doll. We get some pretty girls in this one with katherine heigl and Jennifer tilly starring. The kills start to get more gory in this part of the series which as a horror fan is the way I like it. More of the voodoo chucky learnt as Charles lee ray is shown in this, which is nice change of pace. A lot would say this is where the franchise declined with going into the combined genre of comedy and horror but I still think its a great movie.... read more
