a mess of a film but i actually prefer this over tcm. i might've even liked it better if this was more of a fresh viewing experience, i've just ingested so much shit that was obviously inspired by this brand of horror; heck i even saw the remake well before this. one thing that downright undermines it, tho, is michael berryman. i refuse to believe that man is anything but an absolute sweetheart. read more

52 years in 52 weeks 2018 1977 horror x52 2018 cannibalism watched this on arrow video blu-ray. this was an okay psychological horror film. i found the first half a little boring, but maybe that was because i watched this after working outside on a hot day and stressing out. second half was definitely better and it got pretty disturbing at times. low 3 rating. read more

A ridiculous car crash leaves a family on their way to California stranded alone in the middle of nowhere, that is alone other than a native group of cannibals that want to murder them and devour their baby. Sadly, time has not been kind to Wes Craven's movie and it is no longer the shocking, visceral viewing experience that it used to be. Sadly, the biggest shock comes from Robert Houston's wooden acting as teenager Bobby, but there is still fun to be had watching the Carters fight back and Beast the dog puts in a worthwhile shift too. In fairness, it is over four decades since its release... read more
