This 'Irish Folklore'-trilogy has been nothing but joy and wonder for me. The Secret of Kells, while lacking emotional involvement, was mindblowing with its caleidoscopic animation style and unique atmosphere. And 'The Song of The Sea' had some truly mindblowing visuals, with a thematic beauty and ecologic underpinning reminding me of Studio Ghibli's work. Beautiful, absolutely gorgeous animation accompanying a story inspired by Irish folklore that goes to great lengths not to insult its audience. This film has such a beautiful style, it's hard not to get lost in the visuals, they really kind of become entrancing. I loved how this reminds me of what fairytale's actually are before they get watered down by Disney and other companies. There are real scary moments, real emotional moments, moments where there are real risks and not the kind where you know for sure everything's gonna be all right in the end. My quick rating - 7;5/10. Brilliantly animated Irish folklore tale. The one theme I took out of it besides the obvious reaction to fear thing was the two main characters. No children beyond the wall, but children of the forest could warg indeed. Ame & Yuki still at the summit. Getting spirited away is a wee bit better in anime. But kudos to Cartoon Saloon.
