what's with all the hate? this was a lot of fun... granted, i haven't read the comics and i haven't seen del toro's two films (and i really like neil marshall as a director) but this was a lot better than i heard. maybe a touch too long and a bit muddled as it tried to throw in everything and the kitchen sink but it's funny, enjoyable, gory, violent and action packed. now had you thrown in sex and nudity (where there were plenty opportunities for the later) this would of hit four stars for sure... read more

it's hard to pinpoint exactly what makes hellboy the train wreck that it is: the horrid colour grading that would make a mcu film blush, the dreadful needle drops present throughout, the fact that the filmmakers believe that if enough cursing and gore are on-screen the more mature it will appear; a plethora of other unmentioned downfalls that only make the viewing experience all the more uninteresting. to say there is a highlight that makes it worth sitting through two hours of this, would be to willingly give a false implication, for there is no highlight. read more
