moving plot, cutesy visuals. the best sequence was the entire silent movie section chronicling/fast-forwarding-thru his childhood and marriage -- touching. read more

theres one thing i cant shake about up.  the music is heart-tugging, even if its variations of the main theme.  the first twelve minutes of this movie tell such a bittersweet story in a short amount of time, and if those minutes were a pixar short, they would be perfect.  and the cheeky end credits are awesome.  its that the movie sets up carl to get what he always wanted—a child, albeit a scout trying to get a badge, an adventure, and an (unfortunate) meeting with his childhood hero—at the expense of his wifes death.  and i kept wondering if this movie couldve worked if ellie was alive.  (i... read more
