i loved it but i don't think i "got" it. it's obviously drenched in old hollywood culture and references which even as an outsider is easy to appreciate given the gorgeous cinematography. brad and leo are fantastic in their roles and it makes sense why tarantino sidelined the "story" to let the characters bring life to the all the disjointed subplots. but that also meant the thread connecting the scenes was very weak. i went in knowing nothing about the movie and it was not until the final scene did i realize that this movie was about manson murders. 10/10 finale though. read more

from what i heard i was a bit put off by the idea of me enjoying this but this has one of brad pitt's best acting roles of his career and it's a fun alternative universe take on manson era hollywood. i hope there exists an alternative cut where roman polanski dies like the pedophile rapist scum he is. read more

as always, feel free to read the below review without fear of spoilers. i initially went into this film thinking that it would just be another tarantino film. while that is a certain plus to most people, i am pretty sure that i'm in that small circle that sees his work as a minus whenever i see it on a poster or in a trailer. his work seems overly violent, n-word laden and sexist. i am happy to report that his latest has pleasantly surprised me. there's not a sense or even a notion of a tarantino touch in this movie. yes, there are shots that longer a little too long on feet but like read more

i fucking love tarantino (well i don't really like jackie brown but i recognize that it is a good movie). well, i didn't like this. literally pointless to the very end. no scene means anything at all and it is way to long. this could of been a half decent film at 90 minutes but instead we get people leaving a place and then we follow them the whole way forever or people reacting to things and then repeating that reaction ad nauseam. did we really need to spend 30 minutes, at least, with brad pitt driving? 5 minutes of that alone is one continuous scene of him driving home. so boring! so read more

what a weird movie this is. i liked the grounded vibe, if you can call it that, that the characters and plot have, although i would have liked it more if it had more narrative and thematic cohesion, something to tie together the sequences in march with those in august, so that the six-month jump didn't feel so abrupt. the way the sixties movies and shows were recreated was great, also the la setting. it feels like they really made it around 1969, without the film losing its own character. overall, it wasn't bad, it's disturbing at times but that's usually the way it happens with writtin read more

Finally saw this one! What I can I say. The movie grew on me. Had it not been for the third act, I would still be an enjoyable ride. And then it exploded! My quick rating - 6;9/10. Well; this is a nice little niche movie from Tarantino. If you aren't familiar at all with the Manson murders; then a bunch of this movie will make little or no sense. That won't make the movie bad by any means. I believe some pretty good performances were turned in by all; for the most part. Although zombie Margot Robbie was a little distracting as Sharon Tate. Anyway; the movie follows the lives of a few Hollywood B listers in late 60s Hollywood; and the intertwining of their lives wtih the events of the Manson murders. I'm a pretty big Tarantino fan and usually try to see his movies on the big screen but missed this one but feel I would of been disappointed here. The movie was overly long and drawn out and the storyline was just lacking. This one about a faded television actor and his stunt double could probably have been ok if it was a story in itself but then Tarantino added in some characters from the Charles Manson gang but didn't really take it anywhere, Watchable but not his best. read more

A wonderful look into 1960s Hollywood! I absolutely adore this film and especially Cliff and Ricks  amazing bromance throughout. Before I had watched once upon a time I read through the novel Tarantino had written. It gives an even better look into the lives and past of cliff and Rick. I completely recommend to read the book then watch the film to any film enthusiasts. read more

I still absolutely loved everything that happened on the set of Lancer. This movie more than any other I've watched during these times made me miss going to see films at the cinema, the movie really loses some of it's magic on a smaller screen, which is probably a testament to how well Tarantino poured his love of Hollywood's golden era into the movie. The Spahn Ranch sequence felt like a bit of a chore this time around, but overall I still really enjoyed getting lost in this slow burning epic for 2.5 hours. read more

Tarantino's Bojack. In yet another 'what could it have been' but in his own diluted ways this time. DiCaprio gives one of his best performances (first time as a potent laughing stock). Pitt is the hottest as well as the coolest thing in the movie as the greek god. While this film could be called anticlimactic at multiple levels, the end is a Cliff hanger. A small step up for Q. Don't watch for anything more than a What If fantasy. I wish more directors were like him and John Carpenter "it's my fkn movie you can finance and make money but shut up with trying to control me" then we as the audience can decide if we like it without the interference of studio assholes. And I'm not a Q fanboy, I hated Inglorious Bastards and Death Proof for it's boring dialogue. I disliked the Hateful Eight for it's indulgence and think Q needs a stronger editor to shape his stuff. And Jango is a no go because Jamie Foxx is a piece of shit. read more

If you want to watch a movie that'll give you a nostalgic feeling about the way Hollywood was "Once Upon a Time", then this movie will do that for you, but if you're looking for a great plot with a great ending, then I'd suggest skipping this film altogether. read more

Partendo dal presupposto che prima di vedere la pellicola mi sono informato a dovere circa gli eventi reali successi e quindi sono entrato in sala più che preparato (tanto da suggerire al mio amico, vicino di posto, ogni personaggio e i suoi retroscena all'interno della terribile vicenda accaduta).
