Review of The Dark Tower

so if you haven't read the books and you see this film then yeah, it might suck pretty hard but for someone who has read the books this is a pretty decent film that acts as a sequel of sorts to the book series. it's a sequel but i won't say why as not to ruin the books for anyone interested in reading them. and yeah, of course this isn't as good as the books but you know what, i absolutely hated the boring first book so this first movie is much stronger in comparison, in my eyes at least. in the first book nothing happens and then more nothing happens and then more nothing and then it is over. in this first (and hopefully not last) they take elements from all 7 books and throw them together. as they books have stuck in my head fairly well all these things were fun to see brought to the big screen. breakers, jake, the dixie pig, the dark tower, the number 19 and so many other things were all pretty fun to see brought to life. so yeah, this isn't the greatest of stephen king adaptions but as a devoted fan of the author's work and as a massive fan of the dark tower series in particular this one sure was a lot of fun. could it been better, definitely. could it of been worse, yeah a hell of a lot worse. in the end you knew (if you've read the books) that this movie series would not life up to the books. i mean the books are detailed, intricate and weave in so much fiction (from king and others) and real life that it becomes almost unfiilmable. i like the direction they went and i only hope (although it probably isn't going to happen) that there is more to come. production design: 7 out of 10 cinematography: 7 out of 10 re-playability: 6 out of 10 originality: 6 out of 10 costumes: 8 out of 10 directing: 7 out of 10 editing: 7 out of 10 acting: 8 out of 10 music: 7 out of 10 script: 7 out of 10 70/100
