despite its generally lacklustre reviews all round, i quite enjoyed the cured for what it was - a decent, well-staged and acted zombie popcorn thriller. sure, it doesn't do anything revolutionary with the genre but it wasn't boring either. it ticked along quite nicely and is supported by some great acting. it's also always nice to come across some decent irish cinema that can stand on its own two feet. read

part of obligatory october of horror the rare case where i watch something just because it has elliot page in it and it doesn't turn out badly. a post-cure zombie outbreak film of the titular "cured" (former infected) re-integrating into society. and it uses that to tell you a somewhat clumsy allegorical story about societal alienation; i feel like the exact type is intentionally left vague. there are elements referencing: - the refugee situation that unfolded in europe at the time this was made and totally ruined society as we know it - the racism related to that - something that i read as a... read

My quick rating - 5.7/10. I am so indecisive right now; I just hit shuffle and this popped up. I am glad it did since this is more of a thinking viewer's zombie flick. It asks you what happens when the undead return to life. In a world ravaged for years by a virus that turns the infected into zombie-like cannibals; a cure is at last found and the wrenching process of reintegrating the survivors back into society begins.
