there is some really good and some really bad. it all kinda evens out into mediocre.
prologue: it is fine, but unspectacular. it sets the tone reasonably well, but i would have preferred if they had used it to form a framing device as some kind. even just they are telling the stories and then they could have concluded it after the others segments.
time out: this is pretty run of the mill, slightly below average twilight zone. it is fairly clunky, but works well enough to get by. the accident and particularly landis' role in it is horrible and does cast a bit of a cloud over the whole thing.
kick the can: i realize it is a remake of an original series episode, but it completely has the wrong tone. most twilight zones are a little dark, a little twisted, and make you stop and think for a second. this is just sappy. it is extremely emotionally manipulative and it is completely unearned. spielberg and goldsmith are good enough at doing emotional moments that i felt a little bit, but it is completely unearned and their attempts to draw tears just annoyed me.
it's a good life: this is fantastic prime twilight zone material. it is a fantastic segment that pretty much makes the entire film worth viewing. i thought is continued a bit too long, it kind of wrapped up then just keeps going for a couple minutes. i also didn't love how they used all the effects, but this is still elite twilight zone stuff.
nightmare at 20,000 feet: one of the most famous episodes of the series, this is a fine remake of it. i like lithgow's performance, but it just doesn't really surpass the original episode in my opinion.
